when a shit thing happens or i don’t get my way, i’ve come to see it as a blessing and purposeful, and i ask myself what i could possibly learn from it. there’s always a thing to learn, even if it’s mere acceptance. it’s saved my mental life, i tell ya that
sometimes you think you’ve ‘passed a test’ but the situation is a ‘pop quiz’ in a different format: how you perform on that assessment is not meant to trick you but to check in on your progress and maybe illuminate areas that still need your attention, something else to learn because the timing and scenario is different.

Sure, I definitely could buy that 9800X3D I want, and I could really use more money. I’m hyped about the Christian Dior chain I bought for way below MSRP.
None of those things will truly make me happy though.
Being content with what you have will. You don’t always have to have it all. That’s not to say you have to stop striving for more. To me, being content means recognizing the value in every relationship and experience you have, practicing gratitude, and simultaneously striving to be the best version of yourself you can be. When I was much younger, I thought clothes made the man, women only liked money, and that you always had to keep up with the Joneses. This materialist mentality robbed me of joy and happiness. Older wiser me knows that none of those things are true, that happiness comes from gratitude and comparison is the thief of joy.

its such a good show about a nice southern family with their own issues trying to make their way through the world. Every episode is full of great lessons, beautifully written characters, and genuinely funny humor. Hank is a conservative but in the way a normal guy would have been in the 90s. I fuck with king of the hill and you should too!

even if it doesnt entirely match any pre-existing religions i think its good for everyone to believe in something. and even then not entirely a religious belief, but just hold on to something.
