I find it helps with muscle aches and stiffness better than static stretching. This 5-minute video is meant to be a pre-workout warmup but I use it to prepare for sitting at a desk for 8 hours.
I've been integrating stretching into my daily routine for a while... It's the first thing I do when I wake up, the last thing I do before going to sleep, and I usually stretch once or twice throughout the day because of how stiff I become bending over at my desk shrimp-style working from home. Sore AWAY!!!
not something i do often enough, but it really helps with the recovery and with not being sore the days after. literally takes 5-10 minutes, i highly recommend it
I've been trying to build up my chronically ill body to do more movement so I've been doing this 10 minute stretch every day for the past month. My body feels so good afterwards and I've started craving it in my achey bones.
This NYT piece from last year explains why it’s actually a Good and Normal thing to do. I used to have like six in the bed at once but recently culled my crew to two practical ones: this sleeping Charmander plushie, which I hug while I’m in the fetal position, and an Ugly Doll I put between my knees because it’s nice and flat. They're so comfy and I fall asleep in 30 seconds like this (also they’re cute and I love them)
Consciousness can be agonizing but it's also a miracle. Sometimes the pressure to make the most of it feels debilitating. There's so much I want to do, and I have to remind that the stuff that really gives life meaning isn't hard to access. I think making a true effort to know yourself, make connections with the people around you, and observe and engage with the world are more than enough reasons to justify your existence.
