your neighborhood probably has one..meet neighbors, clean or hoard, spend no $ it's a great way to go on walks to different parts of town with a destination in mind. my god what an adrenaline rush, too....competing with other interested people for a carton of eggs can be bleak @ times but has also convinced me that i'd be a gambling addict if given ample opportunity....feels great to win in the past 5 years i've gifted or received:
-beer
-guitar
-plants
-hemp seeds
-patio furniture
-tampons
-500 pounds of dog food
-skincare shiz
amongst various other things
also a great way to get rid of those semi-nice things you'd feel guilty throwing away, you'll be surprised how many people want your strange throw pillow!!
F*ck Meta but dang there’s nothing more wholesome than a local Facebook Group. Seeing my Brooklyn neighborhood come together to refer local joints/find a lost AirPod/give landlord advice/recommend the best loaf of bread in the neighborhood is my FAVORITE pastime. Are you in your micro-neighborhood’s “Buy Nothing“ group? Free shit!!
get free stuff. get rid of stuff. enjoy the neighborly feeling while diverting stuff from the landfill edit: you can find your neighborhood facebook group at https://buynothingproject.org
Join your neighborhood or city or town free groups on Facebook! I’ve gotten free furniture, clothes, shoes, vintage stuff, jewelry, little trays, etc. it’s amazing and so fun to get new things for free, also a great way to pass your loved things on to their next life. I got the vintage ll Bean jeans and the American apparel fisherman sweater both for free from fb (I’m on the left) win win!
The Guardian piece by Amelia Tate offers an insightful look into the world of chip flavors.
I loved this so much that I printed off copies and mailed them to friends, complete with greasy fingerprint smudges (salt & vinegar chips)
my fave Terrence Malik film. Academy award for best cinematography and you'll think about it for days after richard gere stars w the rarest of flexes……pre-grey hair
