my new thing is having a puzzle out at all times — nothing like starting the day with a cup of coffee and slotting in a couple pieces

In my workplace (academic) commonroom there is this little daily puzzle thing where you have to use tiles to show the day's date. I try to spend a few minutes on it every day. It's amazing what good a little puzzle can do when my work is frustrating me.

Definitely think about doing puzzles! They’re fun to do on the coffee table while you watch TV and it’s a perfect step above mindless, and when you’re done, you can just put it back in the box and redo it later. You can get them cheap at the thrift store or buy a new one and when you get tired of it, trade with a friend!

dystopian/post-apoc easy read! I don’t read a ton of books in that genre, but found it really compelling or Bliss Montage, also by Ling Ma, is a great short stories collection. sometimes short stories are the best way for me to break out of a reading slump 🤌
