nobody at your bullshit email job is going to perish if you are away from your computer for fifteen minutes. don’t clock out. get paid to be in the sun. relish in every moment that you have no Slack messages to answer and do something that counteracts the soul-crushing pain of staring at a screen all day. whether you rest your eyes, read a chapter of a book, walk around your block - whatever it is, steal time because your employer probably isn’t paying you well enough to merit staring into the Outlook abyss for eight hours.

there's no such thing as "time theft," you can't steal time any more than you can steal a song. corporations are lying to you. the only things that can be stolen are *things*. Don't normalize the demonization of low productivity. It's not a crime, you're just not busting your ass for a company that doesn't give a shit about you.

ccatman17 all of their work hours are time theft. they may sit in the sun but as long as they’re a cop they will never feel the beauty of its rays through their traitor bastard skin. hope this helps

I paid the police for 8 hours to block my road due to construction. Are they allowed to look at the sun or should I say something? 🤷

jok any of the many constructions of being a hybrid/WFH office employee in capitalism. you usually do not react with any physical items and basically, it exists to divorce you entirely from the products of your labor while underpaying you. it’s both depressing and low stakes!

jakes oh absolutely. my commitment to the ITYSL meme should not preclude the fact that i think everyone should steal about 40% of the time they’re paid for

free yourself from the chains of Big Work by saying you are working when you are doing something far more productive, like reading, stretching, catching up with friends, going for a walk, or taking a little nap. reclaim your time, reclaim your life

As an artist who gives 0 fucks about the flow and capital of industry, I encourage every person who is forced to work a meaningless (that’s the key word) day job to find every possible way they can to take bathroom and smoke breaks on the clock. If there ever is a time to mindlessly scroll the internet, it’s while on the clock.

it’s sort of hard to get caught. my boss has no clue that I’m actually just sitting around thinking instead of sitting around and thinking for them.

i have tendencies toward addiction and i often form habits that are pretty destructive with it, but about two months ago, i started walking and listening to audiobooks and just totally clearing my mind, and it’s a new, actually helpful addiction. i go on at least two two-mile walks a day, sometimes further if i have time. responding to my sensory-seeking urges by pounding the pavement has actually been life-changing. i think we elevate and laud the ”hard” physical activities like going to the gym, running, pilates, etc., but i’ve always been really solitary when working out, running makes me sick to my stomach, and pilates and other group fitness classes are too expensive. additionally, walking has been proven to be just as good for you as running and less harsh on your joints. i can’t believe i finally found something that’s 100 percent free and so fucking simple to calm the buzzing under my skin and that fiery need to feel something, and it’s something i learned to do before i was a year old. for once, i feel comfortable in my own head.
