you thought you were gonna stroll down the sidewalk and eye-flirt with strangers on your way to work? WRONGGG. your ass is LATE LATE. time to pick up the pace. no shame in my game though. i really like doing this in moments when it's not 100% necessary. i absolutely loathe doing this when it's incredibly necessary (running very late and the difference between this bus or train and the next means losing an additional 15 minutes). i'm either running cause i care/fed up with my own bullshit lateness or running because it feels ELECTRIC. in both cases i never feel foolish for running. shoutout to fight or flight. BONUS POINTS: - gives the feeling of i'm starring in the film called MY LIFE and the world is my audience - gets the heart rate going

Breaking into a full sprint feels really good sometimes. Usually, I reserve it for moments when I need to get somewhere quickly and never at the cost of others' safety on the sidewalk. But every once in a while, I can't help myself—I just wanna run! Easy way to make life feel cinematic. Looks insane.

the adrenaline rush of feeling chased for some reason, music blasting in one airpod and the quasi-silent hustle-bustle of suburbia and a nearby freeway, the sentiment that i have to go faster and faster to get back home. especially now in the winter when it’s bone chilling cold where i live and i want to create a paradoxical warmth in my body where the quicker i break the thick dusk air, the colder my interior gets but the hotter my exterior gets. weird but the endorphins come in abundance every time 11/10

Whenever I tell my father that I’ve been running around the city he likes to ask me “what are you running from?” He’s totally right. One should consider the deeper implications of their chosen exercise. I’m prone to escapism, and flight from discomfort, and running is like a transfiguration of that impulse. The goal is to get to the point where you feel like you’re running at something or someone instead of from. Hear me out: it’s free, it promotes longevity, it rids one of the wiggles, and it’s like a tour of the city in 2x speed. I encourage running in the street and dodging people and cars.

less attachment to identity markers and more-sensory driven living/being. staying conscious and in touch with our core essence and saying yes to life when the forces that be make it very easy to say no and cut ourselves off from others and the rest of the world. embodying this truth can ignite a sense of freedom and liberation that is a sexy balm...if you are into that kinda thing

nothing short of a spiritual advisor. here he is illuminating a truth I believe we all feel to be true when down and out but often forget/neglect out of allegiance to self-pity or the traps of misery. this could almost read as a hallmark card quote, but it exists elsewhere...so by default, it is its own thing. I do not mean to be sentimental about suffering— but people who cannot suffer can never grow up, can never discover who they are.
