Peter Yates, director of "Bullitt" made this gritty crime drama about a down-and-out, two-bit criminal played by Robert Mitchum. His character, Eddie Coyle, finds himself in a real bind and spends the movie desperately trying to get himself out of it. How it all transpires feels as realistic as it could get. Every minute feels like it actually happened. Again, another movie from that great decade from 1967 to 1977. Recommended!
a two-bit hood is on the run from the mob and his friend in criminality is dragged into the fray. this is a movie about the dissolution of a friendship that is cloaked in a crime thriller.
One of the great movies from the 1970's, it typifies what was great about those 10 years in cinema from 1967 to 1977. It shows people as imperfect as they actually are, without trying to make them "types" like happened so much both before and after those great 10 years of movies. Recommended!
