Carla Lalli Music (who previously stopped by to share some of her recs) was one of the first people at Bon Appétit that inspired me to cook more when I moved out of my parents place a few years ago. I'm not sharing my love for this book because of this reason, but it genuinely is a great book for those who are looking for practical, everyday recipes. The recipes focuses around everyday ingredients, quicker weeknight meals, and meals that are meant to be made on the weekend. I often struggle to find time to cook, and this book has been really helpful with getting me back into the flow of things.

for a blossoming home cook, i'd recommend getting a cookbook that focuses on teaching technique/building blocks rather than a specific cuisine. it's a good starting place to get comfortable with things like cooking meat, making pie crust, etc., and then cookbooks not geared towards beginners will be a lot less intimidating some recs would be the food lab by kenji lopez-alt, start here by sohla el-waylly, or anything jacques pepin

dystopian/post-apoc easy read! I don’t read a ton of books in that genre, but found it really compelling or Bliss Montage, also by Ling Ma, is a great short stories collection. sometimes short stories are the best way for me to break out of a reading slump 🤌
