This is a combo of memoir + cultural essay in which Tiffany examines the history and impact of fandoms, fangirls and the internet using a mixture of academic research and personal anecdotes to frame her points. Tiffany’s writing is a great balance of casual/funny and informative and she approaches pop culture and pop media with a good level of respect without taking herself too seriously. I especially recommend if you are a fan of 1D as that’s the main fandom she speaks of from a personal perspective!

if you love a really famous musician or a major studio movie, you can probably find some bizarre promotional item on the internet. they’re often too rare to purchase. but i DID just order a set of madonna russian nesting dolls from the music era, so it can be done
i haven’t done this yet, but my dear friend meredith has been testing it out. it’s working for her. i’m always going on and on about how badly i want a pen pal, so i’ll approach someone with this soon and report back
