you will get all the inspiration you ever need out of archival magazines. My favorite eras are the 60s-90s because the ads slap stylistically even though they’re sometimes entirely misogynistic. My favorite old magazines are playboy, naturally, architectural digest, and this other home mag called apartment life. You can buy a stack of like 10 on eBay for $20 or so and it’s totally worth it.

They have magazines from as early as the early 1900s too! I have been obsessed with old video games lately so I have been looking at the old club nintendo magazines and it has been so fun. Dirty/IMPERFECT images

Be that in film or photography I think images should be more obscured instead of so clean All the time. Taking images is painting with light why would you want an image that looks like an ad and not one that looks like a human captured it.
