Caleb revises his criticism, which was uploaded to YouTube back in the day, directed at Colleen Hoover when he was only a teenager and she wasn’t that well known Of an author. He stands corrected in some factors of said criticisms (which in this day and age, was frankly, unexpected), but over anything else, he emphasizes how damaging her novels can be in a hilarious yet poignant way. I personally haven’t read any of Hoover’s books but this motivated me to not do it, ever. She’s a scary woman. Putting that aside, this is one of my favorite YouTube videos.

Caleb Joseph was my first post on here when I recommended his video: A Complete History on my Feud With Colleen Hoover (hilarious btw). Now I rec one of my favorite videos on the internet, Caleb Joseph watching every ripoff from The Fault in Our Stars. He essentially analyzes the formula that these movies use to kind of fetishize and mystify at the same time, people with illnesses, from cancer (it's always cancer, isn't it?) to those weird diseases that almost nobody has, like being allergic to the sun, etc. Through an ironic and satirical lens, he exposes his opinion. It's such a funny video to me and hopefully you can watch. It echoes one of my recent anti-recs, which is how I remembered this gem existed in the first place. I just think he hits the nail on the head with this one.

We read the most disgusting Colleen Hoover Book so you don’t have to : they literally read it all the way through while making funny commentary. So far, it’s like four videos For different books of the same author. Wrapping gifts using no tape with Rajiv Surendra: I recommend his channel in general because he’s so calming to watch. He has a clear vision about this channel and executes it so elegantly. The Juno Effect: the teen pregnancy panic: discusses the interesting phenomenon of pregnancy panic that was frequent in the 2010’s primarily. I looove Mila Tequila. The Last Bronycon: a fandom autopsy: pretty self-explanatory. Disney Channel‘s Theme: a History Mystery: they unveil who made the famous early 2000’s Disney channel theme song. So engaging. I watched every “The Fault In Our Stars” ripoff: Caleb hilariously evaluates the problem with romanticizing diseases through movies. The comments in this one are funny as well. Good teeth are a luxury only the rich can afford: title is self-explanatory. What made it so compelling to me, is the fact that she shared her own experience while growing up poor and not being able to afford to have nice teeth, which rooted what she was saying to her own reality. I feel like it doesn’t happen as much with people who do video essays anymore, but I found it touching.

the video essayists 🌟defunctland: classic. i feel like this is the basic answer for anyone who’s into video essays, but you must understand that i’ve been a theme park fiend since childhood and used to watch defunctland long before he blew up, so he’s special to me. 🌟contrapoints: whoever LIED and told me she did something really fucked up, leading me to take a year-long break from her content, is going to hell. so damn smart. baltimore legend. 🌟broeydeschanel: my favorite film critic. sensible, funny, and generally way more thoughtful with her critiques than other influencer critic types. book recs 🌟bigbooklady: great recommendations that are outside of the run-of-the-mill indie girl genre 🌟ana wallace: same deal but more mature. opens my eyes & tastes in a way that social media doesn’t allow for 🌟carley thorne: standup comedian and booktube veteran with a balance of popular and niche recs. retired from booktube-ing for a style that i’m not jazzed about, but i still love her. lifestyle/vlog-y 🌟linh truong: i’ve been following them since high school and we’re the same age. big comfort creator, i think i’ve seen nearly every video 🌟benjiplant: goated interior design content. unfortunately, he and his partner’s home was destroyed by the los angeles fires. go watch his videos and don’t you dare skip the ads!! 🌟kate brock: vibes. good vlogs, good outfits. lots of comfort 🌟halle burns: another creator close to my age who makes wonderful, comforting content. i’m not a vegan but i loveee to watch her put together the craziest veg food combos. 🌟2014 dan and phil: not much else to say here!
