It is an art, like piano tuning, since the conditions change with the seasons. But when you pour out, say, a Powerade Zero and it turns to slush right in the glass, there is little as satisfying.

Work that ice maker, top off every beverage all day with ice. Stir it up and get the liquid cold AF right away. Maximize the cold. It feels so good going down, it almost hurts. It should be colder than ice cream. Especially if you live in a dry desert like I do in Tucson, it's high priority.

my house has the oldest fridge know to man, and there’s famously no freezer space. but my new york sublet has an icemaker. freezing cold water has been tasting better than soda lately, and that says a lot coming from me. sometimes i squeeze in a cheeky lemon before my fire escape cig

My fridge was too cold & my big bottle of mango juice partially froze into a glorious slushy drink 🙌

*Be very careful if you attempt this intentionally - freezing completely could easily shatter the bottle

I know I'm not cool. That's why I appreciate the PI community for letting me play at being cool. I feel like a hipster pollywog with a protective froggie parent letting me explore the pond safely. Sure, at some point I'm likely to get snatched up as a seagull's breakfast, but I'll enjoy the pond while I can. Thanks.
