Got turned onto her in a BCNR "What's in my bag" video and find her style, voice and the way that her vocals are recorded really hold up right now with the folk/country moment happening in the music culture.
Judee Sill’s self titled album has been on repeat lately for me. I love her religious imagery and mix of musical styles/genres. My favorite track is “The Lamb Ran Away with the Crown” but every song is So Good.
i have clearly been sleeping on jensen mcrae until the last couple months, and her latest album release has been on repeat the last two days since it came out. jensen’s vocals are stirring, powerful, and multifaceted between belting numbers and a soft falsetto. her lyricism is at times a bit funny but often is heartbreaking and relatable, i am SUCH a sucker for the singer songwriter!! think early lizzy mcalpine, tiny habits, delaney bailey, annika bennett!! just cannot rave enough about this, it’s a keeper!!
I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
Come hang with some PI.FYI folks at Franklin Park in Crown Heights in Brooklyn on 7/19 @ 6:30. riotgrrrl and slowdazzle will be there too! Link is the Partiful invited!
