Incredible workout. Way more badass than your run-of-the-mill gym kickboxing class. The pop from hitting/kicking the pads is sooo satisfying. Great confidence boost even if you’re bad at it (like I am). Makes you feel like you can beat up anybody!

Find a legit gym and have the most fun you've ever had in your life. Not only does it teach you how to be a badass but it also teaches you that you're not as badass as you thought you were. It orients you more objectively than lifting weights and flexing in the mirror does. Plus you don't have to use your words anymore

There’s something quite surreal about standing there exchanging blows, kicks, knees and elbows with an utterly complete stranger on a random weekday evening. I’ve found muay thai useful for keeping my mind in check, even though it sometimes makes your body feel like it's been in a minor car crash.

Not only will they prepare you for the revolution, they are fun and get the brain in order! I used to do Muay Thai, jiu jitsu, and kickboxing, and I was always looking forward to classes! Even if you don’t spar with people, it’s a great way to mentally compete with yourself!

My go to for when I need to cook something but don’t want to cook anything. Fry up a diced onion in a pot till it starts to brown. Toss in a cup of lentils and add 3.5 cups of water. Season with a decent amount of salt, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for about 20. Then stir in 1/3 cup of rice, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the rice is cooked, the lentils are very tender and the whole thing has a porridge consistency, another 20-25 (but start looking out for doneness after 15). The lentils might stick at the bottom toward the end but that’s fine; let it sit for a few minutes when it’s done cooking then scrape and stir in the lentils at the bottom. adjust salt, season with pepper and if you want, cumin, and stir in about 1/4 cup of good olive oil. There’s dinner. She’s done in an hour and most of it is hands off. Deceptively tasty and satisfying for how simple it is.
