revolutionary album. contains some elements of what would eventually become free jazz while still operating within relatively traditional song structures. caused me to re-evaluate how i interact with and create art. one of my absolute favorites right now.
I think if I like, really had to think about it, free jazz is the pinnacle of music. I wish I could dedicate my life to jazz. watch this sun ra performance. youβll feel the same way
i'm a huge jazz enthusiast especially if it's from the swing era, and this album is exactly that. the song tangerine has been a favourite of mine forever, but i had never listened to its full album until today and i am so glad i did. i beg you to give this absolute gem a listen. it'll do you so much good. big band jazz is a gift from god.
i hope you are well, friend.
Any Bill Evans Trio album, particularly LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD. Floating Points albums including his remarkable collaboration of Pharaoh Sanders. Dawn of MIDI if you want something a little more angular and abstract.
both covers are different enough from the originals to provide something new while still retaining the elements that made the originals great πββοΈ
