For all you ringer heads, this is a great pod about the death of pitchfork, the documentary “The War Room” (which I gotta check out) and some other stuff
fave film podcast, really thorough chats with directors of tv and film and such a nice way to decompress thoughts and get out of the bubble of your opinions after a watch
It‘s a music podcast where my cohost and I review albums we pick for each other and interview local music scene icons from the greater LA area and beyond. Our final episode of the year will be out sometime this week 💕
First-Ballot Hall of Fame podcast. Stories about the indie music scene of the early 2000s, the tech-blog glory days, and walking across Europe. My favorite “genre” of podcasts is whatever you call long form conversations between people with great chemistry and good understanding of the medium. Merlin and John, to my brain, are the best at that.
From episode 01 ("Keep Moving and Get Out of the Way") they were already making what would be gems of P.I. Recs. At the same time, I struggle to recommend it. John and Merlin have been recording their weekly conversations since September 2011, 12.5 years ago. 1/8 of a century ago.
Is this how Star Trek / Doctor Who fans feel when they see the emptiness in my eyes as they begin explaining how the show peaked on its 17th season but the ride is worth it? Still, one of my absolute favorite things in life.

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
Come hang with some PI.FYI folks at Franklin Park in Crown Heights in Brooklyn on 7/19 @ 6:30. riotgrrrl and slowdazzle will be there too! Link is the Partiful invited!
