It has been a common thread for me for over a decade, through difficult, wonderful, and uncertain times. It’s often how I process and reflect on things, and knowing there’s a physical archive I can pass on someday carries me through it all.

Get a cheap point and shoot and just record little corners of your life. Revel in the quotidian beauty of it all. Enjoy where you are right now, and let these photos serve as a tender reflection of where you have been and how far you have come

What @LNDSYsaid. Experiencing moments past on film makes everything feel weighted and special. There’s something super tactile about it. Like here we are, just after getting our marriage license with this silly big heart sculpture in Vegas. Could be 2024 could be 2004. Who knows who cares.

Posted this before and then deleted because I felt dumb but I do stand by it. Sometimes it feels embarrassing to be constantly recording and taking photos of everything but it’s very life saving to collect little clips and put them all together in a little montage to rewatch and remember that life is very beautiful and you’ll have fun again. I don’t know why people think that you can’t live in a moment if you’re recording it but I was very much in every moment I recorded so we can put that myth to bed. Attached a post I made of some of my little videos as an example of a sweet (to me, at least) collection of not thrilling but very life-affirming moments in a year. I love making all of my little videos hold hands. I love all of my friends and being alive lol

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
