For getting already-printed photos digitized, it might be best to see if your local photo/print shop will do them, but if you're comfortable sending your stuff in the mail, I have used this Kodak Digitizing Box service (it's a different company licensed to use the Kodak name). They just send you an empty box, and you send it back filled with whatever you need scanned. Once it's done, they send you either a thumb drive or download link back with your original media. There are other similar services out there, but this is the only one I've used!

if you're a photographer or artist who works with photographic media and have access to a printer you need to do this it's the best thing ever; you can try it with different types of paper, fucking up the paper before scanning, etc. the colors will turn out cooler than you'd expect & the texture is so editorial... even cooler when your printer starts running out of ink

don’t get your film developed at cvs! take it to a local camera store if you have one. it’ll be faster and cheaper and easier to access the photos—cvs gives them to you on a disc, in 2025. you can get scans (digital photos) or prints (pretty glossy 5”x7”) or both

same day or next day turnaround, develop and scan $10 for hi res tiff files. family business and they are very nice to me and save my negatives for me even though i’m forgetful. i frequent because it’s nearby and i owe them for helping me survive the film shortage of 2021. also have enjoyed photodom in bushwick and nice film club in greenpoint. NFC you buy a year membership $200, credited back in scans essentially. i enjoy their online negative sorting system/interface a lot but i find their negative return policy confusing(?) and it was too out of my way to visit frequently. have gone to luster in past but a trek and on pricey side. i shoot professionally and for weddings .. i am satisfied with photo life. for large prints i’d maybe get single scans done again elsewhere… i’m considering for my business in the future. cheers happy shooting

Here it is, folks! Volume I of what could very well be a continuous project. Thank you so much to everyone that submitted - I smiled the entire time I was putting this together. It's best listened to with headphones ☺️ Liner Notes: This collection of field recordings is a collaborative effort with users of PI.FYI, each of which recorded their own pieces. It features audio from all over the world and exhibits eclectic moments from London Underground commutes to cuckoo bird calls in Dhaka to the sounds of a century-old American diner. Online communities like PI.FYI often represent a diverse set of people, places, and experiences, but together, the submissions form a living collage that highlights the commonalities of modern life - a unifying message for such a tumultuous time. The first track features all of the sounds played at once in an attempt to create an audio snapshot of an online community but in their offline lives. The individual recordings are unedited except for minor gain and compression adjustments for consistency across the collection.
