I'm plugging the homies with this one—all 3 of their debut scents are amazing. Morel Map smells like a damp forest floor, Warm Bulb is like dust burning on a lightbulb, and With the Candlestick is a perfect cherry wine + incense fragrance. Packaging rules too.

My friends Caleb and Laura run Clue, an independent perfumery based in Chicago. They're childhood friends who started their company almost a year ago. The fragrances they offer are all distinct, unisex, and most importantly, smell good when you wear them. Notable influences include memories of foraging for mushrooms in their backyards, attending church with their families, and Fred Wolf's 1971 animation, The Point. I love how intentional each release is, with Laura dedicating several months to creating each scent while Caleb directs the look and feel, all before hand bottling it themselves. Their branding feels established and accessible, appealing to both high end fragrance fans and to those trying a fragrance for the first time. Photo of my perfume zone featuring Clue's Morel Map.

I got myself their sample set of perfumes for my bday and I am obsessed with all four. Here are their descriptions: With the Candlestick: a perfume about church communion (wearing this today and LOVE, smells like a Catholic church around Christmas time) Warm Bulb: the smell of heat without the heat (instant classic) Morel Map: hints of treasure on the forest floor The Point: a cup of jasmine tea, brewed with ocean water

I️ really don’t want to smell like le labo and I️ also don’t want to smell too boy and I️ also don’t want to smell like an old lady and this perfume brand really hits all of those things. And their bottles are cute.

BEST COAST NO COAST (technically wrong because we have THE LARGEST BODY OF FRESH WATER IN THE WORLD). We're stereotyped as being nice; our signature dishes are all things that make you feel more full than a grain silo at the end of the harvest season; the great lakes are beautiful; supper clubs; 4 seasons superiority; relatively mild natural disasters; endless list of artists, musicians, generally successful and prolific people from the midwest; natural wonders galore (driftless region, boundary waters, apostle islands, etc.); eccentric culture and lifestyle; the list goes on and on. I love being from Wisconsin, and I will never feel bad about it.

Good for getting that weird sticky dust buildup off of your counters and for old sticker residue. That goo is indeed gone

It's my favorite thing to get at dim sum! Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside—it's a perfect vessel for chili oil and hoisin sauce. Wash it down with hot tea after, of course
