Top to bottom one of the best albums of the last 20 years. Everyone knows and loves “Desire Lines” but give “Earthquake” a spin sometime. Bradford Cox doesn’t get the credit he should - a craftsman and amazing performer too 🎶
i have been OBSESSED with this album recently. i literally can’t listen to anything but this album. basketball shoes, good will hunting, chaos space marine, and the place where he inserted the blade are PERFECT songs. snow globes and concorde are also so incredible. such gorgeous lyricism, incredible vocals, and the songs just sound so good. please do urself a favor and listen to this masterpiece as soon as possible. u will not regret it.
my friend recommended his song “Carthage” to me a couple years ago and since then, his name’s been on my radar but i never really took the time to properly dive into his discography until tonight. the weather getting cooler here has me craving the lush and warm sonic landscape of guitar music and this album is just what i’ve been looking for. it’s some of the most magical music i’ve heard in a long time… i also recommend wholeheartedly thanking your friends for music recommendations that you really resonate with, even if you listen to it years after they recommend it, and even if thanking them sounds or seems sappy. recommending music is such a special and sacred thing and i always like to hear when someone connects with something i‘ve sent them, whether i talk to this person every day or once every few years. sharing music is choosing to love and we should spread that love all around, all the time <3
The man responsible for dozens of Teenage Symphonies to God
"Sad songs about happy things" (the first time, as a kid, I can recall the sweet/sour combo of melodies that could make you cry attached to songs about endless, bottomless love)
I've long since lost track of how many weddings and funerals I've attended that have featured this song; suffice it to say, "a lot."
God only knows what we'd been without him 🙏🏻
Hey tyler hopefully this doesn’t violate some PI.FYI golden rule
But after nearly two years of writing, editing and arguing, my book about the EP is coming out in May and can be preordered here: https://hozacrecords.com/product/aifl/ The book is about the origins, history and cultural impact of the EP since these little objects first started coming out in the 50s.
Over 50 of my music biz friends then helped me shape the list and review the top 200 ever released, according to us (ha).
For those of you who are into this kind of geekery/snobbery, I can’t wait to hear what you think. A labor of love, as all books are! ❤️
