I’m in Paris rn which is similar to NYC in many ways, but wildly different from it in others—in big ways (dif language) and small (the bottle caps on plastic water bottles all uncrew and then flip up instead of screwing off). International travel is still somewhat new to me so I’m always excited to see the different ways people live all over the world due to their history or climate or geography. For instance, never seen a toilet like this before, doesn’t exist in my reality but it does here.

asking where the baking paper is at the grocery store? why not be french? ordering a soy latte at a cafe you will never return to? do it as an italian! fabricate your life for just a moment and you’ll realise how much of life can really be an illusion

i realized that despite my very consistent days and schedule there was so many things I didn’t notice about my routes that bring me way more joy, strange signs, neat graffiti, abandoned things, consistent things changing things. It’s not a full life shift but it made me much more interested in my mundane world

Spring always brings it out of me. The buds on the trees! The breezy warmth! The tulips appearing where there was once only a small patch of dirt for dogs to piss on! Everything is incredible and awesome and absurd and I’m always so grateful for the moments I can get past my own relatively small problems to stand in awe of the world :,)

you choose a decade and a country and it gives you obscure music from that time and place. built from the private collections of djs and crate diggers all over the world, there are so many gems on here. bonus roadtrip game–play a song and make your car mate guess the country/decade

Probably the most important tactile skill I possess! Being able to mend your own clothes, tailor them to get the perfect fit, and even design/make your own clothes is so rewarding, not to mention hella sustainable. The entire thrift store is my size bc I have a sewing machine and I can take things in or out as needed. Linking a solid podcast ep that talks about sewing from a historical and philosophical context too hehe everyone should know how to sew
