a nice little virtual way to have a goal, solve a set of problems, or enter another world. focusing in can dissipate bad thoughts and make your mind a clean slate by the end of a session. bonus points for difficult games bc they tend to really make the day fly by games i like for these kinda days: Moving Out - a game where you organize the contents of the main character's boxes into various houses she moves into throughout her life. very relaxing and pretty addicting Cuphead - very difficult game but if you're looking to make a day pass, it's easy to spend hours on it throwing yourself at its bosses over and over Celeste - another game that's as rewarding as it is difficult. could replay these levels forever probably Pikmin 4 (or any of em) - another cozy option that gives you a great sense of accomplishment and lots of little goodies to collect Peggle - a classic Minecraft - another time-killing classic, especially if you plan out a nice big project

i have a couple to suggest: dinkum - think stardew valley + animal crossing + elements of minecraft based in australia; it's literally my favourite game of all time and can spend HOURS on it making my little town it's so fun. and it can be multiplayer!! unpacking - okay this one is a shorter game but you basically unpack items from boxes into a home. kinda like a puzzle and organizing game, but it's super relaxing. you also get clues about whose life you're unpacking. mini metro - if you like train lines/subways in cities, then this is a nice puzzle game. you basically design a subway system by drawing lines between stations to keep your trains running. there are new stations that open and you must include them into your subway system haha to the moon - story driven game but, could make you extremely emotional rocket league - soccer with cars, i have sunk many hours in this, but i like playing this game with friends!! just gonna put stardew valley in here too because it is also one of my fave games, but i reckon you've heard of it already!

little co-rec: if anyone's interested in more literature along these lines, SPARK by John Ratey is a book i read in a PE independent study in high school (bc i didn't want to take gym my last semester) that makes a very compelling argument for integrating physical exercise in your life as a solution to mental health issues. comes to similar conclusions in regard to SSRIs and really any medication in that they can't compare to the results that actually using your body can give you. it really changed my perspective on exercise because i think physical exercise is wrapped up in 'self-improvement' when in reality it should be seen as self-care. and to bring it back to dancing: this is physical exercise that really connects you with the spirit in you and those around you, something that is undeniably a form of care
a study issued last month found that dancing is the most effective way of treating and mitigating depression. Walking, therapy, and yoga also outpaced SSRIs. and if you're saying 'oh this was probably funded by Big Dance', there's no evidence of that and if you're saying 'that's just what a Big Dance shill would say', well honey you're right
