I’m cheating because I definitely have admitted to this, in fact I vehemently defended them on a podcast once. I don’t really have any pleasure I find guilty (I am cringe and I am free). But they’re one of the bands in the U.K. that’s cool to hate. And people are often weirded out when I say they were a big influence. Sam’s Town is one of the best albums of all time and I WILL fight you on that.
I think we feel the same here. I maligned them for years until I finally listened to Hot Fuss in full for the first time recently and was like hot damn, how is this so good?
tortitude absolutely yes! the first two albums are killer (ha). i especially love Sam’s Town cause it kinda feels like its from a nonexistent musical, and I’m a sucker for songs that sound really epic in scale. Also their career was launched in the US by Th OC, and we obviously love that
mouse haha thank you for being British and recognizing The OC music. Biggest challenge is watching with my British gf who literally has never heard of any of the bands that appear in the show, including the killers, so every episode I just discourse to myself.
Pavement? Great records! the Rolling Stones? They whip! The Misfits? Completely singular! The Cure? What a band! Don’t have to love them all but please approach with open hearts and ears.
One time I found a podcast about Remain in Light (my favourite album of all time) with an interesting guest and one of the hosts wouldn't stop comparing the album to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. He also didn't know basic facts about Talking Heads and did that thing where he listens to you by talking over you. If you like this band then I'm sorry, you're probably a good person, but oh my god I have never wanted someone to shut the fuck up so bad.
My Chemical Romance’s ’Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ has been my go to album for a couple of weeks now. It’s honestly such a perfect punk rock album, that even the most casual fan could enjoy it, knowing the intended storyline just adds more to an already great album. I truly and honestly believe the My Chem guys are like this generation’s Beatles, they’ve pioneered so many things in the music scene and no one can truly do it like them.
