Just made some using these bad boys! Grape hyacinths are super common this time of year so there’s a good chance you could find some nearby!
1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup of these flower bulbs and you’ll have a richly purple, subtly earthy/bitter syrup. Going to make some cocktails tonight using it and maybe pour it on some pancakes tomorrow.

You can pickle ‘em, kimchi ‘em, syrup ‘em. My goal this spring is to make baklava using a magnolia syrup. 😋

These are those unplanned, worn-in trails that come into existence from consistent use over time. I like how they represent a record of the way humans and animals interact with their environment, with some being wide and well travelled while others are overgrown and don’t see that much use; each one has a story! I think they’re a cool example of the ways in which we unintentionally shape nature while it shapes us right back. So take that desire path and push back against infrastructure imposed upon you (if you want).
I also just think Desire Path is a beautiful combination of words.
