As someone who avoids most if not all physical exercise her pilates exercises are so good. I do them when im in the mood and usually go for the 20-30 minute (i just finished this one) workouts which go by fast but still feel challenging in a great way. And then when my abs feel sore the next day its like ok am i a bad bitch or what

Pilates is amazing bc you are exercising while laying down but pilates studios are expensive BUT move with Nicole is free. Her hypnotically soothing voice and picturesque settings will get you through any of the workouts. I like to pick something from the beginners playlist after a long day of sitting hunched over my computer sending little emails

On YouTube!! Normally I kinda just do a workout video and don’t care abt the person teaching but her vibe is soooo good and there’s a wide range of videos to choose from (beginner, intermediate, etc etc etc)

I unsubscribed for a while because my puppy was attacking me every time I would exercise so I resigned myself to a sedentary lifestyle but I think soon it will be time to get back on the horse. She offers Pilates, barr, yoga, standing counter workouts, pre/peri/postnatal workouts and dance workouts from herself and several other instructors. There are a lot of videos that use resistance bands, Pilates balls, Pilates circles and ankle/wrist weights too. Try the linked video to get a feel for her style!! Before I signed up for her membership I would just do her free videos on YouTube! I should do this workout right now honestly… 🤧 (edit I did it and it’s crazy how different I feel) I love her because she doesn’t talk about the visual results her workouts will help you achieve but about how good it feels to exercise for your mental and physical health!!! She offers meditations too! I would also recommend 30-day yoga challenges from Yoga with Adriene or Travis Eliot both will really whip you into shape and help you build foundational strength. I recommend Ballet Beautiful with Mary Helen Bowers if you hate yourself and want a cold waspish ballerina to punish you humble you and nearly kill you. It’s extremely challenging but rewarding.

this is a rule i like to employ for myself, as a chronic procrastinator, mostly in regards to my knitting but also for many other things in life: job applications, finishing a book, framing something, etc. These things become big projects in our mind, in need of completion, usually making them into these large and daunting monsters! The shame and guilt we put our ourselves and our procrastinations is so toxic and unhelpful, so instead of having these things sitting around reminding us of our inability to complete them, just get rid of it entirely. Put the project away, completely out of sight, throw our the little craft, put the book on the bookshelf. these time limits are not meant to apply pressure or increase urgency but like an expiration date, like closing all your tabs on your computer but IRL. If i’ve had a project sitting around unfinished for more than a couple months, a year, etc. no matter how much I like it and know i could finish it, i take it apart, throw it out, whatever. if it is meant to be you can always start it again, from a place of mental clarity and renewed enthusiasm! Don’t add it to your physical and mental load, just get rid of it 💖
