I love it, even with the repetition and exhaustion. Unexpected benefit: losing sense of time. Every task, from feeding to putting her to sleep, takes as long as it takes. I’m not trying to control time or “be productive” in the same way I did pre-baby.

Big Moments: * Birthing my daughter.  Was it intense?  Yes.  But it’s also insane feeling a baby exit your body… my husband and I sang “I like you as you are” to her while the midwife team was doing all their checks and what not.  It felt very perfect and so different from my son’s birth. * Floating in the Nantucket Sound and feeling at peace, a marked difference from years prior when floating would send me into brief fight or flight. Also, just being able to swim in the ocean as much as I wanted for a few days. * My son starting preschool and LOVING it.  We did a lot of preparation but I was still worried sending him off into the world without me.  It’s been awesome to see how much he’s grown in a positive way. I have had so many small moments over the past year that felt idyllic, and I’ve made a mental note to hold onto them.  Small moments with my husband, kids, other family, friends.  My day to day isn’t as expansive as it was in the past, but it’s deepened.  I love this stage of life.  It’s full of so much love.

And by that I mean whole humans with their own views, preferences, ideas, beauty, personality. Even babies come out of the womb with their own unique energy, it's miraculous! I love getting to know my children. I love spending time with them. I miss them even when they're just sleeping upstairs. Of course I'm their parent and need to instill boundaries and what not, but I do think the way I inherently view them makes it easy for me to do so in a respectful and empathetic manner. What a gift it is to witness the world through their eyes. We really are all just wanting to be seen, loved, and respected. I love being a parent. I love working with kids. It really is an honor, for real.

she’s a month and one day old and i adore her in ways i didn’t know was necessarily possible i think of her at every store and want to buy her all the things (channeling that energy into getting my finances in order so i can spoil her when it matters) nothing like having a tiny human u love to put things in Perspective (but also she’s not my kid so i still sleep well at night)

I’ve started quoting this character Chuck from an X-Files ep (“Elegy”) who gets caught in an innocent lie: “I’m just a human being, after all!”

Underrated because this teaches you that sometimes relationships won’t work for reasons that have nothing to do with you. Keep it moving
