Mystics in Bali, i found it at scarecrow video, but I found out that it’s on YouTube too, actually. It fucking ROCKS. Incredible special effects (in my childish opinion) and will probably give you a lovely mix of the heebie jeebies and some sincere giggles :) Oh, another film I love that I found on YouTube recently was Wim Wender’s Wings of Desire. it’s heartwrenching , but it inspires faith unlike any other. and peter falk is in it! (and weirdly enough, nick cave lol!)

lots of great recs here, but if you want horror that is more based in storytelling and has a bit more on its mind than just slashers or gore you should check out folk horror or older horror films from the 60s/70s. as others have recommended, The Wicker Man (1973) is a must. Rosemary’s Baby (1968) is also a classic. The VVitch (2015) is also fantastic as an intro to more conceptual horror. you said you wanted deeper cuts, so check out Viy (1967) or Alucarda (1977), both of which i’ve posted more detailed recs for on my profile. also!!!! i don’t know how you feel about silent/b&w films but Nosferatu (1922) is an all-time genre mainstay that still holds up. Ari Aster’s work is great but it’s probably more gruesome than you’re looking for. have fun!!!

which I had shared with friends last October and I thought I saved it somewhere in my Notes app but it’s lost in the ether :( I’m a huge horror fan and former obsessive. I’ll recommend just a few: Tod Browning’s Freaks (1932) — watched this on TCM the morning before my like tenth birthday party and it rocked my world forever… sad and disturbing The Others (2001) — gorgeous gothic atmospheric soooo creepy and Nicole Kidman is a vision Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) — details the last days of a troubled beautiful teenage girl named Laura Palmer… heartbreaking examination of traumatic cycles and evil forces. I would recommend that you watch the show first though 🤓 Barbarian (2022) — this goes against like everything you said you wanted but I have to put it on here because it’s so scary and expertly paced and filled me with dread but it’s also hilarious! It has to be my favorite recently released horror movie

ok 2024 was freaky, but i loved it cause it about sm more than just monster romance even if so many people wanna label it as such. theres countless motifs to art history and all classic gothic literature (mainly cause duh vampires are the epitome of gothic romance and literature). but watch this video, i am watching it at work rn they’ve got their evidence.

Like a dear friend . I miss how when I would smoke a cigarette it would settle into my hair , blanketing a preexisting layer of perfume. I love the way smoke seeps into the fabric of my car, my clothes, even into my skin. Smells like my parents, my grandparents. Our old house. Dads gold Lincoln towncar that we got shot at in. And last time I saw one of those, I was picking dad up from jail, and its license plate read TRULOVE.

Loneliness prevails! I would much rather live purely in solitude for ever and ever than waste another precious second in the presence of someone who has little skin in the game of knowing me or seeing me. Hearing me! I wonder why you keep me around if all your hearts desire is to hear the sound of your own voice. It makes no difference if it’s me or anyone for that matter. For all you know or even care I am merely an ottoman for you to rest your feet on, or a coffee table meant simply to pedestal your various notebook scrawlings and half-read books. I am a file cabinet. I have it here, dated, what you Thought and what you felt about work, or about your friends. ask me, I have it all. And I loved it. I loved knowing you. I wanted to. I investigated and interrogated. I poured over it all with great curiosity, praying for all my red threads to weave a tapestry of you. but I can’t remember the last time you asked me something about myself. When the opportunity arises, and god forbid, I Take it, you can barely hold your breath. Its like a shark sensing blood. You just can’t wait to talk talk talk talk talk. But hey, it’s your life, and baby, I’m just living in it.
