my second pick: very talented across so many instruments or styles/forms but his music seems theoretically overloaded, multiple ideas floating around per song, it feels very overwhelming and complicated for little purpose other than being overwhelming and complicated

Some of his songs are so atonal and chaotic you kind of have to just give up and experience it. First listen, I remember hearing a wall of autotune, blown-out 808s & distorted hi-hats until a clear-as-day 2011 Chief Keef reference emerged like the sun breaking through storm clouds. Some of his music sounds like he’s pulling from every microgenre of rap from 2007 until now, at once. It’s so overwhelming it’s palette cleansing. I listen to his music the same way perfume shops keep a cup of coffee beans.

one of the most densely produced yet tightly composed and arranged albums ever. there’s so much going on sonically and texturally yet musically it’s very focused on melody and groove. this is one of those albums that every listen offers some new detail to appreciate.
