see the animal in his cage that you built are you sure what side you're on? better not look him too closely in the eye are you sure what side of the glass you are on? the original version of this song is of course beautiful, but the isolated keys and stripped-down vocals in this rendition are incredibly raw and make the lyrics even more poignant than they already are. trent reznor really knocked it out of the park with this one

reading the local newspaper when you’re visiting another country

It gives you a sense of what’s going on, and helps put your mind in the physical place as opposed to the cursed online swamp. And I like reading the internationals. I don’t know if it‘s because I’m in a different headspace when “abroad” or just have more time, but it’s become part of my “ritual” when travelling.
