Late news and weather on this one. A depraved little medieval tale about human behavior, society, class and faith, and all the cognitive dissonance and moral fantasy that comes with them. Loved it.

SUCH a wild ride, we’ve got an affair, a celeb psychic medium, an inter-dimensional cloud of ancestral grief, a failing marriage (and a pregnancy), the Russian Revolution, generational trauma, Soviet orphanages, and at least three questionable women —I feel like this is a superb book for the Moshfegh, batuman, emma cline, Mona Awad crowds

It’s brilliant! An inter generational tale set in Sicily about tormented women, class, wealth, obsession first published in 1948. (I just finished Three Summers which was a great entree).

It gives you a sense of what’s going on, and helps put your mind in the physical place as opposed to the cursed online swamp. And I like reading the internationals. I don’t know if itā€˜s because I’m in a different headspace when ā€œabroadā€ or just have more time, but it’s become part of my ā€œritualā€ when travelling.
