i am so thankful we killed it dead. i love men’s carpenter jeans aka pocket city! i have a pair with 9 pockets and if i’m having an active day out they’re so great. also, wearing a bootcut or bell bottom in high school and middle school was grounds for being burned at the stake but they are SO flattering and will take a casual look up a notch. i also am a sucker for any (well made) patchwork jean. in essence, loose and pockety for the win…loose enough to keep you cool in warmer months but thick enough to keep your legs warm in the winter. oh and preferably a lower rise as i’m 70% leg and high waists make me feel like that one family guy still (see attached)

short king pro move here, makes the legs look longer and high waist is just so much more comfortable. i’ll buy women’s jeans and get them tailored sometimes just for the high waist. idk why jeans stopped being made like this, levi’s nowadays are all meant to be worn below the waist and the back pockets are like halfway down your ass. DISGUSTING!! those bad boys need to be like an inch from the belt line and ridin up them cheeks. these deadstock levi’s from the 90s are my favs at the moment.

- long rise with crotch curve cut on bias so they sit nicely on hips with some breathing room below. prob about 14ā€ - long zip fly - slightly big in waist, just enough to wear comfortably with or without belt & have room for fluctuating weight changes throughout day - pretty deep front pockets. coin pocket doesn’t matter. all front pockets fully riveted - deep-ish back pockets - WIDE cut especially in the thigh, should not be feeling fabric there anywhere near my skin - slightly longer length, enough to poddle on shoes some but not have crazy heelbite - outseam curved a bit especially around the hips to have some nice drape & shape - some taper with about a 10-10.5ā€ leg opening - double roll 0.5ā€ hem, nothing too thick but substantial enough to sit on shoes with some weight - yokes, centre seam, and inseams all properly flat felled, idc if it’s by single needle or by fell machine just don’t fuck around overlocking & staystitching - more rigid denim, 12-16oz, that will break in with time is preferred, but exceptions can be made for a special denim. our legacy made vast cuts in ā€œforever blueā€ denim that was this really flowy chinese fabric treated to never fade, that was sick thank god i know how to make these (pictured) because if i didn’t i’d be pissed off constantly by almost all jeans. only off the rack ones i like for myself are fadepants or acne 2023, and i don’t like acne’s denim quality. our legacy is good for people who care less than me but want a good wide straight cut that’s comfy and wearable for anyone at all ages, the vast cut and third cut are what i’d look at there

started writing this a few hours ago when i first saw this ask, then decided against posting but i've since changed my mind. there really is no justification for it outside of entitlement. even from a selfish lens, there's no long term benefit to its usage. it harms the world and culture in more ways than one. a.) the water and energy usage that isn't a secret at this point. "no ethical consumption under capitalism" yadda yadda and yeah corporations are extremely culpable in the state of the environment but there really is no need for chatgpt and the planet is already too delicate at the moment. b.) the exploitation of workers in the global south. this program is not just a computer figuring it all out, there are in fact humans behind it. it reminds me of the acceptance of fast fashion and how people have the tendency to divorce the idea of the garment worker from the garment they wear when all clothing is handmade in some way, shape or form. you need hands to man a sewing machine, you need human eyes to moderate content. also, content moderation can be a thankless job with psychological repercussions. c.) the erosion of social skills, humanity and media literacy...this one is very personal. like, you have a cushy email job but can't write an email? you need a computer and a worker in kenya to get paid a dollar an hour to figure out a daily routine for you? i've seen the program churn out blatantly incorrect information. fine tuning a prompt or chat or whatever to give you the exact (possibly incorrect) answer you need isn't really that much less work than sharpening your research skills by cracking open a dictionary or using boolean search keys in google. again, the main issue with this kind of stuff is the entitlement to convenience, with no thought towards the repercussions within and outside of us. we are losing major recipes (critical thinking and media literacy) here, people! i probably did an iffy job are coherently articulating my thoughts here but i am in fact, human. and that’s the beauty of it all.
