watched this a few years ago and still think about it. set in 1970s disability rights movement and Camp Jened. it’s informative (duh), funny, illuminating, heartbreaking, and a great show of solidarity and its power. have talked to others who also loved it ❤️ on netflix but i think i‘ve seen it in libraries and possibly kanopy if you have access
fantastic documentary i watched on mubi last night. the director just followed around his autistic cousin and his family for one summer. his cousin is obsessed with the show survivor and ends every day recounting his day in the form of an episode of survivor, voting off whichever sibling of his that was being to him that day. it’s a beautiful portrait of this family and the camera never gets in the way of how these people act around each other. everything is told so authentically and honestly and captures what it’s like to have/live with autism beautifully. it’s also so so so funny. anyone who has siblings know the vibes of this movie automatically. i adored it and would highly recommend it. it’s only an hour long too!!
watched this a week ago, and i’m still thinking about it, i can’t stop telling my friends they should watch it. for people who grew up in the bay area, especially descendants of immigrant families, it hits so close to home and is a must-watch!! it’s like if mid-90s and ladybird had a beautiful gorgeous baby tw: extreme amounts of second-hand embarrassment while watching
Watched this documentary short on the Criterion Channel just now to get myself in the right mood for DC Pride parades. Simply amazing. You have to watch this one.
