TikTok user @/schirrgenius lays it all out but basically their timelines are very in sync and Degas notoriously had a voyeuristic, disrespectful relationship with women. It would make sense that Degas, a sculptor and painter, would want to dissect women. It’s a very interesting theory

Linked above is The Dance Class. You should also check out The Rehearsal of the Ballet Onstage, as well as this article by The  Crossroads Gazette: Edgar Degas: The Good, the Bad, and the Ballet. It revealed a lot of disturbing stuff about the paintings and Degas himself, but I thought it was interesting to read nonetheless.

In 1974, conceptual artist Hans Haacke created "Manet-PROJEKT '74," which traced the ownership history of Édouard Manet's "Bunch of Asparagus". This project revealed how the painting passed from a Jewish art collector to Hermann Josef Abs, a financial advisor to Hitler. Haacke's work aimed to highlight the political and social implications of art ownership. The project was rejected by the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne due to its connection to Abs.

this album is single-handedly getting me through my workday today— super weird tunes but amazing! basically three very talented guys got together in the studio and say “no idea is a bad idea let’s just see what happens” and the result is incredible. a combo of instruments and a lot of electronic production that moves it into a different realm give it a shot!
