Crying in H Mart I read it a few years ago and it has stuck with me. Absolutely beautiful and poignant. Highly recommend.
Just Kids was the book a bunch of my friends and I read in our early 20โs and in art school. Patti Smith is a legend, always and forever.

Iโm not much of a reader, but I recently finished reading Just Kids and it really made my heart happy. To read about a real love story that transcends the traditional structures of love stories we usually see is so beautiful. It reminded me how people can be truly pure and loving.
Patti is also just very inspiring to me. I didnโt know really anything about her prior to reading it, but I really admire her now.

A memoir documenting the grief the author faces coping with her motherโs cancer diagnosis and death. A beautiful and heartfelt story about family and identity as Zauner places her complex relationship with her mother under a microscope. They find understanding and comfort in food and through the author trying to connect with her Korean heritage more.
Another name you might recognize more than Michelle Zauner is Japanese Breakfast. If you have ever listened to this band and thought highly of the lyricism, just know Zauner breathes all the same artistic talent and thought into her novel.
I canโt recommend Crying in H Mart enough, it is truly an amazing memoir.

Humans have always danced. It is part of who we are, yet we have been conditioned to be self conscious, to think that we do not move our bodies good enough. Dancing is beyond judgement. Dancing is not a skill, it is our soul moving through our bodies, expressed in movement. Dancing is healing. Dancing is bodily autonomy. Dancing is FUN! Any feeling you are feeling can be moved through with dance yet even alone, you fear looking foolish. Kill the judge in your mind, shut the fuck up, and MOVE ๐
