It’s a documentary about a young Swedish actor, Björn Andresen, who was named ‘Most Beautiful Boy in the World’ by Luchino Visconti after having starred in his movie Death in Venice. The movie was an adaptation of a book that shared the same name which told the story of an older man being weirdly obsessed by a younger boy (Tadzio, played by Björn). This led to the young actor becoming suddenly very famous. He was especially loved in Japan and became the model for most shojo mangas of the time. But all those amazing facts fall apart when you learn about his saddening childhood, his destructing career, and his chronic depression. It is beautifully documented and narrated. Seeing the personal struggles of a man who’s been used almost his entire life is so sad and eyeopening. I wish everyone could see it. Here’s the link to watch it for anyone who wants to. It is in its original language with different subtitles available.

The life of spanish trans icon: Cristina La Veneno which was filled with beauty, drugs & sadness. This series genuinely changed my life, I’ve cried so many times watching it and it showed me a story of a woman who deserved better. With a huge cast of trans women, it just made the experience of watching feel correct. It feels great to know that we’ve moved from the era of cis-women playing trans women on TV to trans women telling trans women’s stories. Such a beautifully shot series, beautiful story telling and gut wrenching in the end. I whole heartedly believe that every and any person should watch it. Spanish speaking person or not, I feel like you can learn a lot from this series and truly came back from it with a new perspective into things. PLS WATCH IT.

I just saw this movie based on true story of a woman who’s family is separated during a time in Brazil when the country was under military dictatorship. It was devastating and beautiful. it captured beautifully familial joy but also the pains of the reality outside their safe space. I was amazed at Fernanda‘s portrayal in this role. The way she was able to play this character thats so strong yet on the precipice of bursting at any moment and doing her best to keep her family intact. Also loved how they captured Rio and little bits of São Paolo (tho I’ve never been to the latter) parts of this film reminded me of Motorcycle Diaries which I’ve just found out is directed by the same director as this film. few other facts I found out about this film: - the director grew up knowing this family the movie is based on and would frequent visits at their home in which they portray in the film. - Fernanda (the lead actress) just won a golden globe for this role as Best Female Actor in Motion Picture which her mother won 25years ago. I teared up when I found that out. - Fernanda’s mother is also in this role and plays the older version of Fernanda’s character. this film made me cry multiple times throughout in and grew the ache that already exists inside me to go back to Brazil. last year in April I had the chance of visiting Rio and honestly fell in love with everything about it. it felt like home. anyways. highly recommend watching this.

More important than any big budget stuff I’ve seen this year. Vulnerable masterpiece based off the actor’s real life 🫡

I want to walk past small rivers and big fields. I want to bike around the dirt roads and lay in the grass all afternoon. I want homemade lemonades and walks in the forest. I miss it so bad.
