I've gone to a few shows solo and find dancing to be the best way to shake out the nerves. Tune into the music and enjoy it. That's what you're there for. In yoga they say to stay with the breath through challenging poses and moves. Same goes here. Stay with the breath and the music. It's your experience. -- Engage. Complimenting people is a good way to start a conversation. Where did you get those incredible boots, love your shirt it reminds me of ___, etc. If you have a question, any question, ask the people around you. Don't look it up on your phone or ask an employee. Have you tried this drink/snack on the menu? Do you know what time this DJ goes on? Have you seen this DJ before? -- Comfort and confidence attracts. I have the tendency to overthink how I'm being percieved and the answer to that is just to do your damn thing and realize everyone else is in their own head with their own thoughts. You can't control what they think and *no one is thinking about you the way you are thinking about you.* You ever see somebody just doing their own thing and not worrying about anyone else? It's the hottest shit ever. People are going to gravitate toward you. -- Hit da bricks! You have the freedom to leave if you're not having a good time. You can skedaddle whenever you want to. But I would say challenge yourself to push past the uncomfortable part at least once during the night, because that's where you learn the most about yourself. Also second having a sparkling water or other NA beverage in hand. Something to do with your hands helps. Your party sounds so fun, have a good time!

i like to put on a playlist of music i'd like to hear (and play as a dj) in a club and i just dance like nobody's watching (because nobody actually is!) you can do this in your pajamas to be comfy, but it's always fun to put on a lil outfit and some funky, messy makeup (maybe even sunglasses!) and just jump around in your room with almost all the lights off. i'm gonna link the playlist i usually listen to, but it can be anything that makes you wanna move! i've really been digging lizzy mercier descloux's stuff lately too, and anything with a synth is always fun to dance to!!!! i love a drunk solo activity after i've gone out. it's such a good way to decompress and enjoy the fuzzy floaty feeling of being drunk before it's time for bed. dance away!

The club is and always will be your family, especially if you're a little bit of a weirdo. I always meet new people when I go out and it feels soooo good to move your body in a way that feels comfortable for you. If you're at the right spot no one will judge your moves. Put on a silly little club outfit and put yourself out in the world of the creatures of the night. Best music is played after 5am, I can attest.

i'm not a particularly experienced or strong dancer, but i go because i have fun and it's the only way i can get myself to exercise so many people in these classes are so afraid of being perceived to the point where they're clearly not enjoying themselves anymore - as a social anxiety girlie i get it, it took me a while to beat this into my brain but you're in a class to learn!!! so what if someone is better than you. will you die? it's probably incredibly likely that someone will be much better. but they're not looking at you, they couldn't care less, embrace failure because it's fun and stupid and you're thinking about yourself too much. you're paying money to shiver in the corner? pop ur booty. goddamn it

a study issued last month found that dancing is the most effective way of treating and mitigating depression. Walking, therapy, and yoga also outpaced SSRIs. and if you're saying 'oh this was probably funded by Big Dance', there's no evidence of that and if you're saying 'that's just what a Big Dance shill would say', well honey you're right
