Eric Wareheim’s Instagram

I love people who love food. They are the best kind of people. While I’ve known of Eric Wareheim for years as the comedian and actor, I’m late to the game on his foodie life documented spectacularly on his instagram. He posts a lot which is something I’d find annoying were it any other content. But I love his food and wine photos and unpretentious reviews. I also love his wine! Las Jaras! He’s done something that I really want to do: intercept his entertainment world and his food world. And he’s done it so masterfully! God he’s cool. Not to mention his absolutely stunning, chic, chef/model wife Madi Borbely. This couple is living my dream. I bet they smell good and never fight.

AMETORA: HOW JAPAN SAVED AMERICAN STYLE

I find is fascinating how much good Americana comes out of Japan. Whether it’s boots by Rolling Dub Trio, military replicas by The Real McCoys or general Americana by Visvim, they’ve taken the baton and perfected the style. I think in one sense it’s embarrassing to lose out on your own heritage to another country, but it’s clear that America values profits > quality, and it needed a country like Japan to keep it going (excellence, attention to detail, quality, etc). This is a quick read about the history of this all. Great for a short read + a coffee table book to appear cultured.

Doc: The world before your feet

Dude walked e-v-e-r-y street in NYC over the course of years. Did little increments each day. Wrote about all sorts of random things relating to the city as he went along.  There's a great segment about his obsession with barbershops/salons incorporating the letter "z" into the name of their shop eg Royal Cutz VIP

Finally saw this for the first time (on 35mm thxx Prince Charles Cinema) and wow. Jonathan Glazer and co-writer Jean-Claude Carrière spending all of pre-production re-writing the script without informing the studio… DP Harris Savides pushing the boundaries of underexposed film and getting the craziest deepest browns and purples out of Kodak stock… Alexandre Desplat starting with what seems like a very polite classical score and then gradually bringing in heavy synth bass… and of course Nicole Kidman throwing herself headlong into an insane role (and apparently bullying the producers for more $$$ when they finished under budget)

The less you read about it (or look at maps) the better. Just enter via Haight Street, turn your phone off and wander 'til you reach the ocean. If you go on a Sunday afternoon and you didn't already come across it, proceed to turn your phone back on and track back to the 6th Avenue Skate Park to check out the roller disco party 🛼🔊😎

Because of the extensive tradition of pirate radio in the UK (from Radio Caroline on down), London probably has the most insane landscape of 24/7 internet radio in the world. I've tried to rank these in terms of approximate popularity ranging from NTS (as mentioned) on down to purely DIY weekend-only amateur collectives like LWSTD.
