I’m not sure what it is but this app just feels like a safe space. Like I can say whatever I want (within reason) and not be judged for it! My stuff might be seen by 2 or 200 people but it’s not there to be objectified by the ever critical eye of the public consumer. I feel like everything has to perfect for Instagram and Twitter scares me…but here I can express what I want and not worry 🫶🏻 I’m done I’ll get off my soapbox now

Pretty sick, went with a friend and it was very funny. $14 Movie Theater IPAs were hitting in a fantastic way. Then we went to see the second half of the Knicks game in some dive in the Village. It was a great time, stumbled on the escalator in front of strangers. 10/10

I think this is so poignant and true! I have a very dear friend that gifted me probably the most meaningful piece of art for a birthday/graduation gift. As a resident collector of items (specifically weird niche pictures and painting…even better if they’re from goodwill or thrifts shops!) I really prize what I put on my wall. It is a reflection of myself and the many pieces that I am made up of. To have someone you know create something personally tailored for you is a joy like no other. 10/10 would recommend commissioning art from your friends!!!
Inspired by my imminent desire for floras rabbit print, but very seriously: I think one of my small but important life goals is to establish a formidable collection of art made by my friends and peers, because (a) when they all become famous I will be very rich, (b) it is so much more interesting to populate your walls with physical artifacts of your community than some random posters (though I do love a good random poster), and (c) i think it is harder in the digital age to materially support the physical arts in the same ways we are used to supporting like, musicians - the culture of going to see your friends bands, or buying your friends band merch, is harder to carry over to seeing your friends paintings or sculptures, i think. So I think it is important to try and do so whenever possible. I am trying to channel my inner medieval artistic patron, with whatever pittance of funds I have on hand. In conclusion: Make your friends sell you their art Commission art from your friends as if you are a feudal lord commissioning a portrait of your lover Hang that shit in your house
