I am a DQ Stan! There’s so much to do and explore in this game, the main cast all have such great background, and the monsters have some v cute names :3
if you're an RPG gamer, this one is a lot of fun. the story is pretty interesting and the gameplay is very dynamic. the combat is turn based but also has a dodge/parry function so you aren't just sitting there taking hits. the action economy is really rewarding to figure out. it's scratching the itch that Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring did most recently
the much anticipated sequel is coming out this weekend so i figured i should finally play the original(not original but you know) dang this game is a masterpiece, the scenery and level design are wonderful, the combat is rewarding and silly, you can make your guy really little and really wide! it really did get me thinking about how procedurally generated environments have no soul at all and i miss when developers hand made the whole map, we were so lucky to have that
