Underrated skill to naturally have bad taste in things, especially in a very curated hyper aware reality that we face today. sometimes I think we live in an era of truly unapologetic bad taste bordering on parody, here are examples of my bad taste:
- 7/11 hotdogs are great because theyโre the same everywhere
- comedians like George Lopez or Dane Cook
- found footage horror that goes nowhere and does nothing but insist upon itself
- shopping at outlet malls sometimes as a treat
- gym shoes not at the gym and with outfits that are too dressed up
- music thatโs kind of boring and not lyrically interesting
EDIT: adding Carlos Mencia to the list of comedians here, hot garbage that I have watched willingly

i know it's been said, but it bears repeating: you can enjoy something while simultaneously recognizing it's bad. i don't mean bad as in morally bad, i mean low quality or corny. you can watch a shitty movie, knowing it's a shitty movie, and still enjoy it. you can listen to catchy music even though you know it's cliche and unoriginal. you don't have to be embarrassed about it.
i recently watched that netflix movie "Carry-On" and it was fucking terrible, but... i had fun watching it. genuinely enjoyed it, even though it was essentially just poorly written pro-TSA / surveillance state propaganda. you don't have to exclusively enjoy things that you or people you look up to deem as high quality or tasteful. in fact, you can watch something and enjoy it because it's bad! i've watched several movies that were so bad, i just focused on how bad it was and thought about the bizarre choices the filmmaker made, and ended up having a great time. there are multiple ways to enjoy things!

last night, got together with some friends to watch the โfilmsโ of Internet creator The Nostalgia Critic (as an aside anti-rec, awful awful awful), but to come up with off the wall bits turning this horrible content into Buster Keaton, MST3K style humor was delightful, more entertaining insyead of just watching something actively bad
