i love my profession, and there's always something new and weird and sometimes creepy about book design. I may hate the process sometimes, but that's more in terms of the content or in working relationships with people, rather than the overall design process. ...also i love books as a reader. And book sniffing is A-OK so long as they're not from the library, imo.
i feel like sometimes i buy different types of art books because of the excitement of reading through them and actually taking everything in, getting inspiration, for research.. etc. but then they lay on my shelf for months and i never get to them. itβs silly to say this but itβs literally like browsing through pinterest or tumblr irl and even better given that theyβre all specifically curated and usually offer some really cool information #physicalmediaforthewin
i have 9 out right now and in no world am i finishing all 9 of them (including a 500 page oral history of the soviet union and like a 550 page one about the manson murders). but i really love checking books out, really satisfies some sort of innate consumer impulse in me. and i love having books around me.
Sometimes you try your best and everything seems to hit the fan no matter how much you try, so you take that raincheck and take yourself out for a day.
This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
