I decided to start a career pivot at 23. I’m 25 now, and the pivot is still pivoting…. while it’s been a while ride I’m also glad I did it. If you want crazy and cool things in your life you have to DO said things.

I just didn’t take the straight route. I dropped out of college twice, and graduated when I was 25. Then took years off before going to grad school. Even then, it was years of trying things before I found my niche. I’m now 34 and solid in my career. Honestly, life is long and it makes total sense to me to want to shift when you are more sure of who you are. Go for it! Why not! Take a crazy chance!

Actually moving is a pain but I'm glad to do it at this stage when I'm more confident in myself. Sounds like you want to do it and you prob learned some things from when it didn't work out in your 20s. So you're better placed for success this time around

At 23 I had just been married for a year, working an office job, swearing that I’d live in an apartment forever, driving this car I hated and unsure what I wanted in life. At 30, I’m eight years into marriage, and almost three into parenthood. I have had 3 different jobs since 23, we bought a house a year ago, and both my wife and I drive our ‘dream cars’ (an old Lexus truck for me and baby blue Subaru for her — we are normal people) and both working in the fields that we dreamed of. For my wife, she left her career in bridal and had two corporate jobs only to pivot back into a greater bridal role, and for me I’ve done misc jobs and ended up in this hybrid stay at home dad / teaching / design mix. Life looks so different than it did at 23. You starting over at 23 is fine. And it’s fine at 27. And at 30. And 34. And 41. And 47! Life is all about starting over. Different versions of you will be birthed and die over and over for new ones to take their place. You’re going to be fine. Start over and over and over again. Life is all about restarts!

These are my favorite food (only slight hyperbole). I recommend, in no order: -Kettle brand -Kettle brand air fried -7/11 -Lay's Kettle Cooked These chips are so strong that they will burn your tongue. They are chemical perfection that make the systems in my body dance. They are so rock and roll. No matter what size the bag, I will probably finish the bag. I always eat the folded ones first, and then move to the unfolded ones.

If you’re within an hour walk from home, you should just walk home. I understand taking public transit or an Uber there to be on time, but you’re not rushing to get home. Thus, walk.
