I have watched the men's 1500 meter final seven times. I have gotten goosebumps each time. I have thought about these athletes, their families, the years and hours and hours of training. I’ve thought about my own mortality, my own body, my own races when I ran track. The middle distance category (400, 800, 1500, mile) is my favorite because it's long enough that you need strategy but it's short enough that it's exciting and takes absolute guts. You are both running your hardest while also thinking about your position, what the pack is doing, when to kick, all while competing against your tired legs, your burning lungs, your own self doubt. Not to mention the other runners. Hearing that bell on the final lap. The crowd. It just gives me chills.

The obscene deluge of sports media personalities and track recruiters vying for my attention is killing me! …no, the only thing dying is my ego as I try for zone 2 training — also: PI running club!!??

Whenever I do a race, I always pick someone to be my target and I lock in on them to keep my own pace. If I end up overtaking them with my speedy little legs, I’ll select a new target and keep on doing that until I reach the finish line. It’s a fun game to do that distracts you from getting too in your head whilst running and pushes you to challenge yourself. Did this technique today for a race and reached my PB: 5km in 27mins!!

a study issued last month found that dancing is the most effective way of treating and mitigating depression. Walking, therapy, and yoga also outpaced SSRIs. and if you're saying 'oh this was probably funded by Big Dance', there's no evidence of that and if you're saying 'that's just what a Big Dance shill would say', well honey you're right
