i just went to see some friends perform at a community space in a neighborhood that’s pretty out of the way for me, and my friend’s car was all packed, so the two people who run that community space gave me a ride back home and we talked the whole way and even exchanged phone numbers! carpooling is community building <3
i feel like i went years just meeting friends somewhere, having them come over, or going over to their places. pick up your friends! go somewhere together! even if you don’t have a car, there’s something special about stopping by, waiting out front, & collecting ur buddy. also shout out to being picked up. this goes both ways.
Some former mutuals have recently expressed their interest in getting to know me and it’s made me feel really good about myself! one was a match on a dating app (😽) and one was a spontaneous invite to a group hang that has now blossomed into several other hangs both independently and in a group setting. It feels nice to have irl people say “hey i’d like to get to know you better,” especially since i made it a goal to seek intimacy and connection more this summer. ♥️♥️♥️
My best friend and I live in different cities and live very busy lifestyles, so we unfortunately don't see eachother very often. A few months ago, we realized that we both drive home from work at the same time, so we started calling eachother while we drive.
This has been awesome because that 20 min window right after we leave our offices has transformed from a boring drive to a daily gossip/therapy sesh and we don't have to spend money like we would have to if we just hung out.
the last word i wrote down in my list is maelstrom! i think i have like 100 words written down, some of them repeated without meaning to... i like words a lot and there are many i wish to remember and immortalize. what’s a word you never want to forget?
