dang this guy is dropping deep cuts every other day - this song has all the right nocturnal energy, spooky not-quite jazz. great for solo drives or baths. total angelo badalamenti / sade world
i’ve had this my library for a while. still haven’t researched anything on the artists. but it’s currently 2am in LA and raining hard and this record is hitting the spot. the record feels like its a long lost film score, equal parts moody and romantic, very oozy bass and arrangements, overall gentle and soothing listen to chill too
insanely dreamy instrumental pedal steel record. great to fall asleep to. bj cole is a slide guitarist and sessioned on a ton of records in the 70s. this record has my 3 fav instruments, slide guitar, fretless bass, and yamaha synths. he covers clair de lun and other classical pieces and it comes out sounding more new age-y angelo badalamenti and twangy
I’ve been maintaining a looong playlist spanning jazz, folk, ambient, r&b/doo-wop, shoegaze, soundtrack scores and more, I’m sure. The main theme is imagining tracks that would sound good in an empty old dusty bar, or maybe walking along a foggy river bank on a still night. Sonically, I’m aiming for interesting textures, catchy melodies, or sparse production. Throw it on shuffle and see what catches yr ear. Sampler of artists: Mary Lattimore, Eno/Fripp, Cassandra Jenkins, Harry Nilsson, Beach House ✨

pro tip, dreams don’t always make sense - so when weird/bad stuff happens, you can shrug it off and be like wow what a weird dream bro 🤷
