my loving parents half invited me to go with them to Glacier National Park and i accepted. it was awesome seeing the night sky, wildlife, and natural scenery but the best part was seeing my parents go somewhere they’ve always wanted to. Glacier was filled with people nearing death - there was a sea of white hair on all the easy trails and in the lodge lobbies. i did have to sneak into many hotels and campsites and sleep on the ground but that only added to the experience of witnessing a bunch of old people live their lives.

It’s sooo cute and fun and feels just like when you were a kid but better because you are old enough to drive your own jet ski 🥹 also makes your parents happy 😭

and every family trip growing was always centered around intense hiking and it was frustrating for me as a teen girl who just wanted to like be normal. I definitely appreciate it now that I’m older but I’m kind of more of a gentle nature walk person these days

so i learned abt seasonal work from this chick i hooked up with a singular time who worked w the peacecorps and travelled all around the country. i didn’t want to go home last summer so i decided to apply to work as a host at a fuck ton of hotels and lodges in national parks. i ended up working in yellowstone for the summer and it absolutely changed my life. as someone whos not super exceptional and who’s worked in food service since i was 14-15, i really never thought i would be able to get to do stuff like this. the people i met in the mountains who have been traveling for years on end and just working these shitty service jobs to support it really changed my life. we r suffering in late stage capitalism but there is a really beautiful world around us and i suggest you try to see as much of it as you can. it’s not as hard as they make it seem and it’s a million times more valuable than staying in whatever bubble we’ve created for ourselves. i lived in the mission for a year and sometimes i forget that! Ty for reminding me. - taking a stroll at crissy fields. preferably on a sunny day. the view of the bay and bridge is awesome and really sells the im in san francisco - if you want to splurge on eats please go to Zuni Cafe! It’s classy California chic. order a martini and a pile of french fries if you’re not up for a full meal - for a fun drink there’s true laurel and any drink pairs with their patty melt (would also recommend just the patty melt🤓) - my old dive haunt was the 500 club + they have a photo booth - garden creamery has a rotational / seasonal ice cream menu that’s always yummy. grab a scoop and walk to dolores park - the tea leaf salad!! at Burma Superstar - catch a movie at the Roxie they have awesome programming - don’t be afraid to walk up some hills. some random neighborhoods can have epic views i hope you have a great trip 🫶
