Spiraling female rage driven novel
Piglet Has The Job, The House, And Her Dream Man (Plus His Parents). Just As The Soon-To-Be Wife Feels Comfortable, The Life She Worked So Hard To Build Crumbles Beneath Her. She's Alone, Stuck In Denial, And Coping With Insatiable Hunger. The Sobering Reality Sets In A Little Too Late.
Some Descriptions Go On Too Long And The Ending Was Slightly Disappointing. I Wish She Gave Us A Little More Insight, Though Still One Of My Favorites.

Piglet by Lottie Hazell, I’m over halfway done with it. It’s a fantastic novel, detailing the few weeks before the protagonist’s wedding. The relationship between Piglet, the main character, and food is particularly interesting. Especially the way the author details the food in such an appetizing way. Highly recommend :-)

For summer, I love to dwell in the grotesque. I love books that are so horrible and disgusting that I simply just cannot look away.
One of my top recommendations for this genre is “a certain hunger” by Chelsea Summers.
This book follows a young woman, who is a food critic that absolutely loves her job. She has a taste for the finer dinning, is extremely analytical and smart. But aside from food Dorothy has a taste for something else; love, specifically a string of lovers.
I find this book repulsive, and interesting because it intertwines themes of love and cannibalism and it explains how all consuming love can be sometimes.

I very pathetically and desperately read just about anything promised to appeal for "fans of Gillian Flynn". This is the 1 in 50 that delivers, and not as a rip off or homage, but its own specific dark jewel. Just a riveting and very awful (positive) novel. So rarely does something capture this part of childhood, the very primal and un-socialized us vs. them, me vs. you, jealousy and confused pre-maturity longing and disgust. Crazy!

Love this story, but it does fall flat in a few places which led me to I put it down and reach for something else. Though, I'm glad I picked it up again. Definitely worth the read.Â

Themes of love, loss, and grief
Miri's wife is trapped in a submarine slowly sinking to the ocean floor. We're taken through the story from both Miri's perspective (powerless above sea level left to long for the woman she fell in love with) and her wife Leah's perspective (powerless and bending to the will of her own body.)Â
