All of a sudden you remember a past life, and realize how long it’s been, how different things were then and how you can’t get it back. But in Willie’s way, there’s a some lightheartedness too. You can imagine him smoking on a porch, having a ball wasting time, which is often what life is about. The Al Green version is also good.
