The reviews about this book have been pretty decisive, but I’m a big fan of Rachel Kushner (from her essays to her fiction) and her newest novel, “Creation Lake,” is awesome. The protagonist is quite cynical, the layers of character development are perfect, and the conversations between the characters continue to stay interesting. I highly recommend picking up a copy

Auto-fiction in the au courant/Rachel Cusk bent about a female writer in her 50s. Beautifully written and just brimming with wit. I don’t have her gifts so I can’t begin to do it justice, but just read it. Didn’t actually realize this was the third in a trilogy (a repeat mistake for this guy). Felt even more atmospheric not having the context of the first two.

SUCH a wild ride, we’ve got an affair, a celeb psychic medium, an inter-dimensional cloud of ancestral grief, a failing marriage (and a pregnancy), the Russian Revolution, generational trauma, Soviet orphanages, and at least three questionable women —I feel like this is a superb book for the Moshfegh, batuman, emma cline, Mona Awad crowds

It's about a young woman coming into adulthood with her whole childhood behind her and the cruel modern world ahead of her. Family drama, roommate drama, a mysterious lover, middle class angst, strange and surreal scenes(like her house literally slowly sinking into the earth), and amazing prose. Honorable mention to Woman, Eating by Claire Kohda, which is about a vampire who is trying to break into the art world.
