Much more practical than disposable lighters in a lot of different situations (light jar candles that have burnt down near the bottom, stoves with broken ignition, etc). Plus they leave behind nice little boxes you can use to store perfume samples, jewelry, or other trinkets

more dramatic and romantic than any lighter. weird smell you grow to enjoy. +1 for a sentimental box of matches from a dinner/drinks with friends

Finally lighting the candle you’ve held onto because it smelled so good that you wanted to keep it forever but then lost it; reunited a few years later. Just to light it in your new apartment.
